Che Guevaras Night Off
During the first few months of 2016, Ryan wrote 10 songs for an original musical production, Che Guevara’s Night Off. The musical is based on a true story, that has become a legend in Northern Ireland. A plane has been fogbound in the west of Ireland and the world’s most wanted man is onboard. Ché Guevara wants only one thing… a night off from the stress and strain of being a revolutionary. But not a bit of it! There’s a cow to be calved, a dance to organize, a motorbike to repair and a bit of love in the air.
Che Guevara’s Night Off premiered in Belfast in June 2016 and toured 15 towns before being selected for the Féile an Phobail (West Belfast Festival) in August 2016 for an 8-night run.
During the play Che, played by Ryan, sings this song, Rosario, to the young lady he met in Ireland, on his night off, while briefly visiting her family home. It is a beautiful lullaby, a love song, for one night. Enjoy!
